It all started when…

I was thinking about how art travels through generations of people. It’s true that people make art. And it is true that people interpret art’s meaning. And, it is undoubtably true that people respond to their interpretations in all kinds of ways (including making more art as response). The time and space between the creation of a work of art and the reaction to it can stretch beyond an artists own lifetime, in fact beyond even the memory of them or their society. This thought brought me to a vision of distant worlds sending messages over vast interstellar distances. Depending on the distance and the lifespan of the lifeforms the individuals who send these messages will never get the response; however, over time the civilizations can learn from one another and take some solace in the fact that they are not alone in the universe.
